静思源起
Jing Si Origin
证严法师出家前自号「静思」，以提醒自己时时刻刻静心思考人生方向，也因此孕育了慈济的根本思想与静思文化的起源。
在静思书轩，所有的心灵触动，都诉说着一个真实的信念、一个不变的坚持，都来自那一念初心。
Before becoming a monastic, Master Cheng Yen took the name "Jing Si" to remind herself to stay mindful and reflect on the direction of life at all times. This also gave rise to the fundamental philosophy of Tzu Chi and the origins of Jing Si culture.
At Jing Si Books & Cafe, every moment that touches the heart tells a true belief, an unwavering commitment, all stemming from that original aspiration.
一日不做，一日不食
一九六六年，证严法师带领三十位家庭主妇，每天存下五毛钱，创办了慈济克难功德会；在台湾花莲静思精舍，也有一群跟随证严法师出家的弟子，恪守“一日不做，一日不食”的清规，早期不仅耕作，还从事婴儿鞋、成衣加工、蜡烛、五谷粉等二十一项工作。
No work, no food.
In 1966, Master Cheng Yen led thirty housewives to save fifty cents daily and founded the Tzu Chi Frugality and Merit Association. At Hualien’s Jing Si Abode, her disciples lived by “no work, no food,” farming and producing items like baby shoes, garments, candles, and grain powders.
要影响天地，先影响心地
我们渴望一片森林，一棵参天大树的成长，却需等待数百甚至上千年……使用环保筷，每人每年可少砍2000多棵树；种一棵树，可产生19公斤氧气，减少25公斤二氧化碳；一次性筷子使用后残留二氧化硫，对健康有害，浪费资源，对地球不利。一片森林能释放芬多精和负离子，净化地球，也净化人体。但要影响天地，先影响心地。节能减碳，从一双筷子、一个杯子、一个碗开始……
To influence the world, first influence the heart
We long for forests, yet a single towering tree takes centuries to grow. Using reusable chopsticks can save over 2,000 trees a year. One tree produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide, while disposable chopsticks waste resources and harm both health and the Earth. Forests release elements that purify the planet and the human body. To influence heaven and earth, we must first purify the heart. Energy conservation begins with simple acts—a pair of chopsticks, a cup, and a bowl.
信念会产生力量
祝福的力量很大，对水说好话，会呈现美丽的结晶；对米贴上“谢谢”两个字，会散发出香气。静思书轩的薏仁粉、薏豆粉、二十二味五谷粉……每一颗豆子，都曾在佛号声中历练，那是来自静思精舍师父们的祝福。净斯茶，新鲜茶叶切制，冷热皆宜，从种茶的那一刻起，就倾注了最虔诚的付出，那是来自大地的祝福。信念会产生力量，我们相信每一个人、每一件事、每一样物，都应该受到祝福。
Faith Creates Power
Blessings have great power. Speaking kindly to water creates beautiful crystals; labeling rice with “thank you” brings out its aroma. At Jing Si Books & Cafe, every grain in our powders has been nurtured with chanting—a blessing from the masters. Jing Si Tea, made from freshly cut leaves and suitable hot or cold, carries devotion from seed to cup—a blessing from the earth. We believe every person, deed, and item deserves to be blessed.
纵使今日的慈济分支会遍布全球四十六个国家，援助过世界六十六个国家；静思精舍依然坚持自力更生，收支不仅没有一分一毫来自“慈济”会员的捐款，反而提供饮食、住宿接待每一位到精舍的人，成为慈济的后盾、全球慈济志工的心灵故乡。
静思书轩由静思文化专款设立，不仅支持着静思精舍的日常收支，更传承证严法师的思想，期望串起人与人之间无私的爱，为“净化人心”默默耕耘。
Although Tzu Chi now spans 46 countries and has aided 66, Jing Si Abode remains self-reliant, offering food and lodging to all visitors and serving as Tzu Chi’s backbone and volunteers’ spiritual home. Jing Si Books & Cafe, funded by Jing Si Culture, supports daily operations and carries Master Cheng Yen’s teachings, fostering selfless love and quietly “purifying the human heart.”
