Jing Si Books & Cafe is more than a reading space—it is where humanistic values take root. Beyond daily duties, staff also carry the mission of spreading these values. Sister Shen Xiuling, who also serves as a Jing Si Humanities Volunteer, once felt the extra role was a burden. Over time, she discovered it was a chance for inner growth and the nurturing of wisdom.

Unlike routine tasks, a Humanities Volunteer focuses on connecting people and inspiring hearts. Through organizing, guiding, and gentle communication, Sister Xiuling learned patience, mindfulness, and harmony while working with volunteers of different temperaments.

“Being a Jing Si Humanities Volunteer is not just a duty, but a practice of the heart,” she shares. Through service, she cultivates character and realizes that humanistic spirit lives in sincerity, understanding, and cooperation. In every task lies an opportunity for self-cultivation and quiet joy.
